Mortuary Operations Manager at Newcastle Hospitals shortlisted for Unsung Hero Award

Jeff Potts, the Trust’s Mortuary operations manager has been shortlisted for an Unsung Hero Award under the “Leader of the Year – Ancillary Staff” category.
Jeff was nominated because “his attitude, work ethic and demeanour are exemplary. He very much has a "can-do" attitude and this motivates his staff to feel empowered and upbeat.”
When leading his team, Jeff values their contributions and encourages them to offer initiatives and suggestions for improvement. The working atmosphere, in what can be an incredibly difficult job, is always positive, caring and supportive. The team - who were also nominated for an award - respect, care for and support one another because Jeff, as their leader, encourages them to do so.
Jeff never individually takes praise pointing out that he is part of an amazing team working together for the needs of the patients and families in their care. As result, they always go the extra mile to and receive a very large number of thank you cards and letters from grieving relatives who they have supported through a difficult time.
He leads by example, is always willing to listen and is always cheerful and upbeat.
