Newcastle Hospitals rated amongst the best trusts to receive treatment

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NUTH) was today rated by its own staff as amongst the best places in the country to receive treatment.
In the 2018 NHS staff survey results, 90% of staff agreed they would be happy with the standard of care if a friend or relative needed treatment at the Trust. In addition, 88% agreed that care of patients was the organisation’s top priority.
The survey results also placed Newcastle Hospitals amongst the top ‘combined acute and community trusts’ for its safety culture and in staff equality, diversity and inclusion.
Chief Executive Dame Jackie Daniel said: “I’m incredibly proud to read the responses to our staff survey. They tell us that our staff feel that they are able to make a difference to their patients and that caring for those patients is our top priority.
“It’s great to see that our results are amongst the best in the country, particularly as we know that good staff experience leads to even better care.
“I’m also very pleased to see that these results place us amongst the top performing organisations for staff feeling that we act fairly in relation to equality and diversity.
“There are always areas where we have more work to do, and we will be working hard with our whole staff to develop actions which can help everyone to flourish.”
In total, 6,665 staff – 2,000 more than last year – took part in the survey in autumn 2018 – with the response rate increasing from 33% to 47%.
