'I love seeing the joy on people’s faces when I have been able to make a difference'

I test hearing in patients from infancy to over 100 years old and support the ENT medical staff during clinics.  I also help people with hearing loss using hearing aids and giving advice as well as maintaining and repairing those hearing aids.

What you love about your job?

Meeting a wide variety of different people.  Using my technical and interpersonal skills in balance to help with diagnoses and to help improve quality of life for many people.  The joy on people’s faces when I have been able to make a difference. Working as a valued member of a team with terrific and supportive colleagues.

Your proudest moment so far?

There are so many! Coaxing a 4-year-old to do a full hearing test; helping a person with mental health problems cope better with their hearing aids; every time a patient is really happy with what I’ve done; getting letters of appreciation from patients; appreciation from colleagues.
