'I learn something new every day and the opportunity to enhance my learning is always there'

As a nurse on the bone marrow transplant unit, my job involves caring for children and young people whilst going through bone marrow transplant. I support children and their families during the process of chemotherapy, transplant and the aftercare of the transplant. This includes administering IV and oral drugs and carrying out regular observations. I also help to prepare families for discharge and the long term management of their child’s condition.

What you love about your job?

I love my job because I like to look after the children in my care and help them go through transplant. I like to see the children get treated with the drugs we give them and witness the complex process of bone marrow transplant. I learn something new every day in my job and the opportunity to enhance my learning through continuous professional development is always there on the unit.
