Integrated Covid Hub North East

The Integrated Covid Hub for the North East (ICHNE) was established in the autumn of 2020, to bring together testing, tracing, innovative science and unique data analysis to lead in the fight against Covid-19.

Everyone involved in the hub has done an incredible job to save lives during the global pandemic.

Changes announced in the government’s ‘Living with Covid’ plans have had a major impact on the services we provide and, sadly, the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recently announced the end of the ICHNE contract, with effect from 31 March 2022.

Our diverse, skilled and experienced workforce is now at risk of redundancy.

We are working closely with colleagues, trade unions and partner organisations to do all that we can  to reduce the number of staff at risk.

During this period, we will regularly update these web pages to provide information about alternative employment opportunities, events and other information colleagues may find useful.

Training and Development

Education and Workforce Development have designed a number of bespoke, practical sessions to support staff with job readiness, upskilling and wellbeing. These sessions were delivered face to face and via teams.

Wellbeing Session

The Trust recognises the importance of wellbeing and for the provision of support for staff to protect and maintain both physical and psychological health and wellbeing. This session give staff the opportunity to identify current wellbeing challenges; to enable you to reflect and prepare to look after yourselves and others; and to be aware of the help and support that is available in Newcastle Hospitals and as a member of the NHS.

Enhanced Literacy and Numeracy Skills

This workshop was designed for all staff, to enhance literacy and numeracy skills that can assist with job preparation such as applications and interview preparation. The sessions considered practical application to areas including personal statements and numeracy tests, job application examples, and signposting for sources of further support and assistance.

Interview Skills

This workshop was designed to support individuals who were wishing to improve their awareness and confidence in interview situations that may include both face-to-face and virtual environments. During the workshop we covered the do’s and don’ts of interviews; different types of interview, how you would answer an interview question; discussion and application of the STAR approach; techniques for self-confidence; and areas for improvement.

Presentation Skills

This workshop was designed to support individuals with practical skills for the preparation and delivery of presentations to groups both face to face and in virtual environments. The session helped the development of skills to build an effective presentation, practical tools and techniques for effective verbal communication, components of effective presentations, and methods of connecting with an audience.

Q&A Session

These sessions were in place as an open ended conversation for colleagues to discuss any questions they may have.
